Edward Chiang

Chief Executive Officer

Edward Chiang, Verita Chief Executive Officer, is New York-based and has spent his career building successful businesses at multinational companies. He joined Verita from Sompo International, where for six years he served as Chief Finance and Pricing Officer for its Global Risk Solutions (GRS) division. He was a founding member of GRS and was also responsible for Alternative Risk products, Underwriting for complex risks and Reinsurance structuring for all Property and Casualty lines of business.

Before this, Mr. Chiang spent five years at QBE as national Primary Casualty Risk Management Leader, successfully assembling a team handling niche accounts in the middle market and large account space. Edward was part of the QBE Risk Management leadership team and was instrumental in turning QBE’s regional capabilities into a national structure by enhancing underwriting processes/guidelines, as well as servicing, billing, claims handling and loss control capabilities.

Prior to this, Mr. Chiang spent five years at ACE as Head Pricing Actuary of the ACE Financial Solutions group, where he was responsible for the pricing and reserving of large, sophisticated insurance programs. Mr. Chiang built new models and tools, and worked closely with underwriting, legal, accounting, claims and loss control to evaluate all risks. Before this, Mr. Chiang spent five years at Ernst & Young as a consultant working on Risk Adjusted Capital Modeling and Accounting Framework engagements for many global insurance carriers. Mr. Chiang is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Neal Enriquez

Chief Underwriting Officer

Neal Enriquez, Verita Chief Underwriting Officer, is New York/New Jersey-based and has spent many years leading and managing casualty insurance and risk management teams. From many years of experience and as a pioneer in the industry, Mr. Enriquez brings to Verita innovation in alternative forms of risk transfer and financing. He joined Verita from Sompo International where, for over six years, he managed the global Casualty insurance products. He was a founding member of Sompo’s Global Risk Solutions division and was also responsible for structuring and negotiating its Casualty treaty reinsurance with U.S. and Lloyd’s underwriters.

Mr. Enriquez has over 30 years of insurance experience ranging from financial audit and credit analysis to underwriting and risk management. Prior to Sompo, Mr. Enriquez led and managed Chubb’s Risk Management Group and its portfolio of large and complex casualty insured clients; he also managed shared and layered property programs for Financial Institutions. He is also very familiar with property CAT insurance-linked securitizations (ILS) such as catastrophe bonds and sidecar debt from years of working at A.M. Best Company where he evaluated several ILS and assigned the related debt instrument ratings.

Mr. Enriquez has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with major in accounting. He started his career with Ernst & Young International and KPMG where he practiced public accounting and held a Certified Public Accountant license.

Jason Dockery

Chief Industry Officer

Jason Dockery, Verita Chief Industry Officer, is North Carolina-based and joined Verita from Sompo International where he built a new Real Estate and Hospitality Industry practice with a focus on a customer-centric model. In just over six years, Mr. Dockery managed over $1 billion in premium bookings spanning over 400 customers in the Real Estate and Hospitality industries.

Mr. Dockery began his career as an Executive Risk underwriter at Chubb and rose to become the home-office Real Estate Financial Lines Product Specialist. Mr. Dockery then moved over to the Property and Casualty underwriting ranks in 2008 where he became a technical specialist and territory manager for complex Real Estate and Hospitality placements.

In addition to the general Property and Casualty placements, Mr. Dockery also has significant experience in managing a host of alternative risk program structures including captive, integrated and corridor placements. Mr. Dockery also served as the Chief Credit Risk Officer at Sompo GRS and prior to that, was the lead credit analyst for the Real Estate Unit at Chubb. During his 20+ years career, Mr. Dockery has developed extensive deep technical expertise across a host of industries including but not limited to Real Estate, Hospitality, Leisure, Cultural Institutions, Financial Institutions, Professional Services, Life Sciences and Manufacturing.

Mr. Dockery graduated from The University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2000 with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Public Policy.

Jolin Shi

Chief Actuary

Jolin Shi, Verita Chief Actuary, is New York-based and an accomplished actuary with extensive experience working in various roles and leading teams. Ms. Shi joined Verita from Sompo International where she led the actuarial pricing of various types of insurance transactions from traditional guaranteed cost and standard insurance policies to insurance programs that utilize alternative mechanisms of risk transfer and financing.

As an integral part of her role, Ms. Shi collaborated with team players from underwriting, finance/accounting, claims and loss control. At Sompo, she managed the transaction pricing responsibilities and provided strategic support for profitable growth in its U.S., Europe, and Singapore business units.

Before joining Sompo International, Ms. Shi worked at Ernst & Young where she managed global teams of actuaries and served as the Reserving Actuary for various insurance company clients and insured clients with self-insured/self-administered insurance programs. Prior to Ernst & Young, she worked for a personal and homeowner’s insurance company based in Toronto and built the company’s pricing models and rating algorithms.

Ms. Shi holds a degree in Mathematics, with majors in Actuarial Science and Statistics, and became a fully credentialed actuary just two years after graduation. Through many years of comprehensive experience, education and acquired skills, Ms. Shi has become an expert actuarial professional in the field of pricing sophisticated and complex insurance programs, insurance portfolio profitability monitoring, and reserving adequacy.

Robert Tuohy

Chief Commercial Officer

Robert (Rob) Tuohy, Verita Chief Commercial Officer, is New Jersey-based and has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry in various roles including defense counsel (house counsel and a private law firm), complex claim analyst, general counsel, and product development. Mr. Tuohy joined Verita from Sompo International where for over six years he served as Senior Vice President and Associate Counsel in the Product Development and Legal & Compliance Departments for Global Risk Solutions, a business unit within Sompo International. In his current role, Mr. Tuohy is responsible for Strategy and Execution for all areas of Verita to ensure that controls and workflows are proper and compliant, and that procedures are in place for the insurance business.

While at Sompo International and his prior roles, Mr. Tuohy worked closely with underwriting, loss control, operations, claims, product development and other insurance stakeholders in developing guidelines, workflows, and products necessary for commercial property and casualty insurance.

Before Sompo International, Mr. Tuohy was Vice President and Associate Counsel at Chubb from 2002 to 2016 in the General Counsel Department responsible for legal and regulatory issues for Chubb’s commercial insurance division. Prior to Chubb, he worked at AIG from 1999 to 2002 first as a Claims Analyst in the Toxic Tort Claims area, and thereafter, in the General Counsel Department for Large Accounts. Prior to working inhouse in insurance companies, Mr. Tuohy was in insurance defense litigation working as house counsel for CIGNA insurance at the law offices of Lee G. Karosen (1996 – 1998) and for a variety of insurance companies while at Morgan, Melhuish, Monaghan, Arvidson, Abrutyn & Lisowski (1998 – 1999).

Mr. Tuohy graduated cum laude from Seton Hall Law School in 1995 and is a member of the New Jersey and New York bars.

Bill Barry

Chief Claims Manager

William (Bill) Barry, Verita Chief Claims Manager, is a New York/New Jersey-based insurance industry veteran with over 32 years of industry experience in casualty claims, claim account management and client servicing. Mr. Barry has an industry wide reputation for excellent claim technical skills, leadership, developing and executing high level innovative account management strategies, and superior client relations.

Prior to his current role at Verita, Mr. Barry served as Sr. Vice President, Head of Claim Account Management for Sompo International for six years. Mr. Barry was responsible for managing a team of Claim Account Managers on a global basis for the coordination and execution between client, broker, underwriting, claim adjusting units, management of TPA’s and loss control, ensuring all technical, financial, adherence to Best Practices, and service expectations were achieved.

Prior to Sompo International, Mr. Barry held various senior level casualty claim positions with Chubb Insurance, where he worked for over 17 years including National Casualty Claim Manager for its TPA, Chubb Services Corporation, and Mid-Atlantic Regional Senior Technical Claim Specialist. In these roles, Mr. Barry was responsible for the national management of a multiline commercial claims team, whereby he drove results of the overall work product, provided technical oversight and guidance, and provided authority on coverage and financial management. Mr. Barry also has extensive experience in managing and handling complex and severe litigation.

Mr. Barry graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, with a Bachelor of Political Science/English. He also holds the professional designation of Casualty Claim Law Associate (CCLA) from the American Insurance Institute.

Chris Adolph

Chief Property Claims Manager

Chris Adolph, Verita Chief Property Claims Manager, is Dallas-based and has over 24 years of experience in the property claims industry leading high-performing claims teams, handling complex claims and collaborating with underwriters to improve their policy forms. Mr. Adolph is known in the industry for developing new solutions to help mitigate claim costs for clients. Prior to assuming his current role at Verita, Mr. Adolph served as the Head of Property Claims at Sompo International’s Global Risk Solutions division for six years.

At Sompo International, he was responsible for claim oversight emanating from their industry specific underwriting platforms across their respective operating territories. Prior to that role, Mr. Adolph was Assistant Vice President and the Real Estate Claims Manager for Chubb North America. In this role, Mr. Adolph was primarily responsible for property claims in Chubb's Real Estate and Risk Management Underwriting Units as well as Chubb’s Estimate Review team and Vendor Program initiatives.

Outside of his current role, Mr. Adolph sits on the advisory boards of both the Loss Executives Association and J. Wrigley Vineyards. He is also a member in good standing of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel.

Mr. Adolph graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Economics and Finance.

Vic Sordillo

Victor Sordillo

Director of Risk Advisory Services

Victor Sordillo is New Jersey-based and has spent his career leading loss control and risk consulting at multinational companies. He joined Verita from Sompo International where he was the Executive Vice President and global head of risk control. He was one of the first employees of Sompo Global Risk Solutions and built the department from a staff or one to almost 100 safety professionals.

Prior to Sompo International, Mr. Sordillo was Senior Vice President at QBE as national risk control leader and Vice President at Chubb as the head of global technical services.

Mr. Sordillo is a Tufts University graduate where he studied structural engineering. He is a registered professional civil and fire protection engineer. In addition, he is a Certified Safety Professional.

Outside of Verita, Mr. Sordillo has held board level positions on charitable organizations such as United Way and the Red Cross and is currently on the advisory board of the fire science program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a trustee of the New Jersey Manufacturing Extension Program.

Glen O’Connor

Glen O’Connor

Deputy Director of Risk Advisory Services

Glen O’Connor is New York City based and joined Verita as a key team member responsible for delivering a best-in-class loss control framework. Mr. O’Connor has 20+ years of experience and is well-recognized by his clients for his positive contributions to their safety results.

Mr. O’Connor joined Verita from Sompo International where his position was SVP, Director of Risk Control Technical Services. His responsibilities included managing a team of specialists focused on Life Science, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, Manufacturing and State Compliance. Mr. O’Connor directly serviced large real estate and hospitality clients and was responsible for developing client specific products to effectively reduce loss experience.

Mr. O’Connor is recognized as a specialist in real estate and hospitality and has been published in Advisen, Hotel Management and Risk & Insurance. He has also presented to the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) Safety and Security Committee, national broker conferences focused on Real Estate and Hospitality and other largely attended insurance events.

Adam Bergen

Adam Bergen

Head of Distribution and Business Development

Adam Bergen joined Verita CSG, Inc. as Head of Distribution and Business Development in February, 2024. Mr. Bergen is based in Los Angeles, CA and will be tasked with helping Verita build out their broker and client distribution network nationally. Chiefly, he’ll be responsible for establishing strategic partnerships and working alongside internal stakeholders to provide innovative and bespoke products to brokers and clients.

Mr. Bergen began his career in 2009 at a wholesale brokerage firm in greater New York, developing relationships with retail brokers across the United States. In 2012, he was hired by Marsh & McLennan (New York) as Vice President of Property Placement. In 2015 he was recruited to Starr Specialty (New York) as a Senior Property Underwriter where he was able to round out his insurance background more fully. Mr. Bergen joined Sompo International: Global Risk Solutions (GRS) in 2017 where he would go onto hold various roles within the organization. Initially his focus was underwriting business for large national and multinational property programs.

Mr. Bergen holds an undergraduate degree in History from Carleton University (Canada) and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Fairleigh Dickenson University (New Jersey, USA).

Shaun Gonzales

Head of Property

Shaun Gonzales, Verita Head of Property, is New York-based and is a highly accomplished professional who has established a remarkable track record of success and leadership throughout his 20+ years’ experience in the insurance industry. Mr. Gonzales joined Verita from Sompo International where for over seven years, he served as Executive Vice President and a key member of the company’s property practice executive team.

At Sompo, Mr. Gonzales played a pivotal role in driving the company's growth and development especially in managing and overseeing a substantial book of property insurance business in both the Industry Practice and Asian/Japanese Interest divisions with a combined gross written premium of over $600 million. In addition to managing the overall profitability of the portfolio, Mr. Gonzales managed a team of 18 underwriters and oversaw the company’s strategy towards potential property exposure aggregation, property catastrophe modelling, and capacity/limits usage and deployment.

Prior to joining Sompo International, Mr. Gonzales served as Assistant Vice President and Property Team Lead at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies where he managed a team of underwriters in its Real Estate Unit. Through his experience at Chubb, Mr. Gonzales acquired a deep understanding of the complexities of the insurance market and its ever-evolving landscape and provided him with a strong foundation for leadership, strategic vision and reputation as a trusted and influential insurance executive. It was in this role where Mr. Gonzales started building and nurturing strong client partnerships which has been instrumental in fostering long-term success in his career and driving profitable revenue growth.

Stephanie Panico

Head of Legal

Stephanie Panico, Verita Head of Legal is New Jersey-based and has extensive programs, policy drafting and insurance coverage experience. Prior to assuming her current role at Verita, Ms. Panico served as General Counsel, Reinsurance at QBE Insurance, where she led a team responsible for the legal support of QBE’s Ceded Reinsurance and Capital Solutions functions as well as QBE’s two Bermuda-domiciled captive reinsurance companies.

Ms. Panico was promoted into that role after serving as Vice President, Associate General Counsel for Global Reinsurance Operations at QBE Insurance. Before that, Ms. Panico was Vice President, Associate General Counsel in the Business Unit Support group at QBE North America. In that role, she served as the lead attorney for QBE’s Alternative Markets programs business unit, which was comprised of over forty property, casualty and specialty programs. She and her team provided day-to-day legal support for QBE’s programs, handled a wide range of contractual matters and oversaw programs-related regulatory inquiries, including market conduct exams and consumer complaints. Ms. Panico was also the lead counsel for QBE’s Global Risk Solutions in North America, which provides loss control and risk management services to QBE policyholders.

Prior to joining QBE, Ms. Panico was Counsel at AIG where she supported several of AIG’s Excess Casualty business units. Prior to joining AIG, she was an insurance coverage and defense litigator at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti LLP in Morristown, New Jersey, where she was recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in New Jersey.

Ms. Panico graduated from Rutgers Law School (Newark) and with honors from Rutgers College. In 2019, she earned her Certified Program Leader designation from Target Markets Program Administrators Association. She is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.

Stephen Ruane

Head of Capital Market Solutions

Stephen (Steve) Ruane, Verita Head of Capital Market Solutions, is New York/New Jersey-based and has spent many years leading and managing various alternative risk transfer/financing and reinsurance functions within the industry. From his many years of experience in the alternative risk transfer/financing industry, Mr. Ruane brings to Verita years of innovation in alternative forms of risk transfer, financing, and program design which benefit the customer, insurer, and broker.

He joined Verita from Sompo International where for over five years, he managed the company’s U.S. collateral holdings, group credit aggregation, bank ratings and credit methodology, aggregate exposure tracking, and day-to-day credit and collateral operations.

Mr. Ruane has over 15 years of insurance experience ranging from financial audit and credit analysis to risk management and reinsurance. Prior to joining Sompo, Mr. Ruane worked at A.M. Best, where he was responsible for the credit ratings of various Title and Captive re/insurance companies and Risk Retention Program insurance entities. Prior to A.M. Best, Mr. Ruane worked at Chubb Group of Insurance Companies (Chubb) where he managed the group’s Captive unit and its Bermuda Captive Facility used for the group’s complex casualty insured clients. When he started his career with Chubb, Mr. Ruane was responsible for the reinsurance accounting of the Excess of Loss and Clash reinsurance portfolios.

Mr. Ruane has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance. He also earned professional designations as Associate in Captive insurance (ACI) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM).

Dian Dennis

Head of Underwriting Services

Dian Dennis, Verita Operations Manager is New York based with a remarkable passion for leadership and team development. With 14 years of invaluable experience in the insurance industry, Mrs. Dennis has demonstrated her expertise in managing diverse teams within the underwriting services domain.

Previously serving in a leadership role at Sompo International for over five years, Mrs. Dennis was instrumental in providing exemplary guidance to the underwriting services team, directly overseeing six managers and their combined team of 60+ support staff. During her tenure, she managed the department's $1B+ premium booking and efficiently improved processing outcomes by strategically distributing work between onshore and offshore teams.

Mrs. Dennis began her career at Chubb Insurance Group where she spent eight years as an Underwriting Associate after graduating with a degree in Political Science from York College.

Jennifer Westwood

Senior Underwriter

Jennifer Westwood is a New York based Underwriter with industry expertise across all property and casualty lines of business. She has experience providing insurance solutions for accounts in the middle market and large account spaces, with a focus on providing complete solutions to her clients. Jennifer has Real Estate, Hospitality, Financial Institutions and Professional Services industry expertise, and also has experience across multiple industries.

Jennifer joined Verita from Zurich North America, where she was responsible for middle market business with global insurance brokers. Prior to this, Jennifer worked at Accenture as a P&C Consultant, where she gained a macro insurance perspective working alongside a global carrier on various insurance technology and efficiency initiatives. Jennifer started her career in Underwriting at Sompo International.

Cole Palis

Graduate Development Program Underwriting Analyst

Cole Palis, Verita Graduate Development Program Underwriting Analyst, is New York-based and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. Cole is responsible for reviewing risks with a team of insurance experts focused on industry specialization and delivering innovative solutions.

At the University of Pennsylvania, Cole graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics with a concentration in Choice and Behavior as well as a Minor in Consumer Psychology. He was a part of the Varsity Baseball team as well as mentoring younger students in the Wharton Leadership Academy. Throughout Cole’s career in baseball and the Leadership Academy he learned valuable team, communication, and leadership skills which he intends to grow upon during his time at Verita.

Cole previously had a sales internship with a rising ready-to-drink coffee company, Super Coffee. In this role he was primarily in charge of managing Northeast wholesale accounts in upselling the product and creating off-shelf displays.

Cole is eager to learn and start working with the Verita team.
